    Flax (or linssed) is a plant and an herb.

    The ancient Egyptians grew flax for clothing.

    Use the botanical name when ordering seeds (bulbs, etc.) or when looking up information in the library. Common names vary by nation, culture, and region, and sometimes the same common name is applied to different plants.

history:

    History: The modern English word “lingerie” comes from the ancient Latin word for flax. The word lingerie first appeared in the English language in 1825 as a euphenism for scandalous undergarments made of linen, borrowed from the French word lingerie (meaning things made of linen, and also meaning laundry room or linen shop). The English word “lingerie” spread into common usage around 1852. The French word came from Middle French linge meaning linen, from Old French linge meaning linen 12th century, from Latin adjective lineus meaning made of linen, from Latin linum meaning flax.

    Flax or linseed is a food that increases sexual energy and enhances fertility.

    Gender: masculine (traditional western European magickal gender)

    Magickal substitutions: Rosemary usually may be safely substituted for any herb in magick spells and rituals. Roses may safely be substituted for any flower.


Magical Uses
Flax: Flax can be used in spells and charms to attract money. Use in beauty spells and healing spells. Helps with psychic powers and is protecting.
Flax Seed: Used to keep peace at home (put some seeds in a bowl to soak up negative energy). Also, carry flax seeds in your wallet or purse to attract money. Ruling Element: Fire.
