Thetis told Achilles he hadthe choice between a long and uneventful life or a short and glorious life. He choose the short and glorious life. Achilles plays an important part in the Trojan War as related by Homers Iliad and in the last days of the siege of Troy is killed by an arrow wound in his heel.
