Coconut is an unusual fruit because it is rich in fat, mostly saturated fats. Traditional diets of the South pacific include lots of coconut, which helps prevent heart disease. Coconut flakes, coconut milk, coconut cream, and coconut oil all contain lots of lauric acid, an antiviral and antibacterial fatty acid. Lauric acid is the same immune-booster that babies get from human breast milk.
